A rare antique cross crafted from 15-karat gold, bearing the maker's mark "A.W." (for Alfred Wigley), the date letter for 1905, and the Birmingham assay mark.
Alfred Wigley was active as a goldsmith from 1864 to 1905, renowned for his high-quality guilloché work and the production of items such as coin holders, watch cases, pendants, compasses, and vesta cases.
From 1874 to 1905, he collaborated closely with Aaron Lufkin Dennison (founder of the Waltham Watch Company).
A very elegant cross pendant dating from his final year as a goldsmith.
