Rectangular Ivory Toothpick Case, the hinged cover inset with a painted panel depicting the Greek god Chronos (primordial God of time) pulling a chariot of Eros (the Greek god of sexual attraction). Communicating; I will love you till the end of time.  
Black and gold glazed painted panel.
English, date 1790-1800 

The Toothpick case is rectangular in form and the cover is unusually structured with a checkerboard pattern and inlaid with gold bead work and a golden cartouche. Gold mounted lid base, hinges and thumb piece. With its original mirror and velvet lining.
Underside engraved with an anchor, stork and the letters R. h.p.
