Dunhill, movement No. 108779, case No. 21594 by Tavannes, 1930-1940.
Fine and rare sterling silver and black lacquer 'La Captive' purse watch. Rectangular with two panels that flip open by pressing the spring-loaded sides of the case to display the movement and the dial, which can be tilted and held by the panels, making it a desk clock.
The case is partly covered with black lacquer and partly decorated with Art Deco motives.
Matted silver with applied gold Arabic numerals. Black Breguet hands. Cal 816, rhodium plated, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, flat balancespring, index regulator.
Signed Tavannes on dial, case, and movement, and 'Dunhill' on the dial.
