Claude Chavent Cube brooch

Modernist brooch by French goldsmith Claude Chavent (1947-2023).  His work could be defined as playing with reality. The suggested perspective, in this case made from Platinum and Gold, is in reality flat. In his work spanning over five decades he translated different geometrical chapes, using different materials and  textures/finished, into flat jewelry with a ‘trompe l’oeil’ illusion. His very recognizable work is always made to a high level of perfection. This brooch measuring 43 x 49 mm. (1.8 x 2 inch) is definitely one of his most iconic.
