Oval shell cameo brooch depicting a romantic and somewhat erotically charged scene of a male and female in a mountain rich location. (She looks to be holding a enormous fig leaf) The classic 18th century scene has clear Chinese details which make it likely this cameo was carved in China based on a European picture. The Cameo is in perfect condition. There is no damage of any kind. The Cameo is set in solid fourteen karat (hallmarked 585) yellow gold mounting with elaborate scroll work It is dated at the mid of the 19th century.
