Antique Dutch Victorian period ring. Set with ten rose cut diamonds in closed back setting. This is a type of setting where the bottom of the stone is enclosed and placed against reflective foil (during morning nonreflective burned oxen blood was used). Closed back settings can be found in early jewellery from the Georgian and early Victorian periods and later copies of these pieces. Some caution is needed because when immersed in water, liquid could enter the setting and influence the sparkle of the diamond.
