Important early single button chronograph wristwatch.
Concord, case No.47124. Made circa 1918. Fine and rare, early, 14K gold wristwatch with single button chronograph register.
Polished, curved bezel and band, hinged single mobile lugs, hinged back. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel with painted black and yellow Arabic numerals, outer minutes/fifths of a second division, subsidiary dials for the seconds and the 30 minute register black luminescent hands. Frosted gilt, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 32/36 mm. Thickness 11 mm.
Inscription on the outside of the hinged back: C.C.T.
Inscription on the inside of the hinged back: Mary Cornelia Carol Averell Roland Harriman 1898-1918 M.W.H.
Edward Harriman was an American railroad executive. Father to Mary Harriman and Averell Harriman, also two historically important figures.
